Greenstyle is a community program for residents in Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai and Willoughby Councils. Residents are encouraged to join the program to achieve improved sustainability in the home including improved biodiversity conservation in the backyard. The benefits to participants include access to 'green' businesses and discounted services/products, ongoing technical advice, information and training towards achievable sustainability in their home and gardens.

Greenstyle Advisers (one based at each council) are there to co-ordinate, run and provide support to residents in the program.

Greenstyle aims to encourage local businesses to be involved and to facilitate environmental initiatives for residents. The program will also undertake restoration of creek lines, bush corridors on adjoining public land.

Small Grants - Available funds up to $5000

Ku-ring-gai Council's Environmental Levy Small Grants scheme is designed to assist the Ku-ring-gai community, particularly community groups and schools, to undertake small environmental projects at a neighbourhood level. $80,000 is available each year with individual grants generally being less than $5000. Projects should have sustainable, environmental and community benefits. Applications close 28 May, 2010. Round the World Gardening - Multicultural gardening for English as a Second Language learners

Here's an opportunity to share your knowledge on fruit and vegetable gardening from your homeland to your adopted home of Australia.  We'll visit the Seeds of Learning Garden to look at the benefits to ourselves and the environment around us of growing our own food.

Tree Fern Gully Walk’ - Ku-ring-gai Community Walks and Talks

Wednesday 30 June 2010, 11am - 2.30pm

Relax and listen to the sounds of nature as you walk amongst beautiful Coachwood trees. Visit picturesque Phantom Falls and observe a variety of vegetation communities. Includes a break for lunch and opportunity to take in the beauty of this area.
